Political Therapy
Concept
Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva collaborate to make political therapy with individuals and groups. They have sessions with people to deep dive into their political problems in a manner of a therapist and chart the understanding and experience.
This piece happens through a series of workshops which all adopt theraputic practices in Desideri's "Sensing Salon" involving what she calls "fake" therapy along with tarrot and other methods.

Development
PREVIOUS
This work has been developed and shown many times internationally over the last decade.
Benefits
- Both highly intimate and highly political.
- Highly engaged work, direct interaction with the community.
- It's a work that the "general public" may connect with physically and psychologically without an elaborate knowledge of art history.
- Pushes understanding of therapy as a method anyone can use in multiple forms.
- Has been shown previously in a couple of major Biennials and Pompidou Paris.
Challenges
- Making the public aware that this not "real" therapy, a form may need to be signed upon entering the workshops.
Accomodations for Covid
- Valentina and Denise can run workshops through a zoom easily from Canada or France.
