Equal Opportunity To Be A Dictator
Solo interventionist Version

2017 - 2020

From 2017 - 2020, Freakley spoke in social public everyday life inviting people to dictate her speech and vice versa. She does not do this in appropriate work situations, organisational situations, speaking privately with certain friends, in the studio or at home. In all other public social situations, she tries to converse this way. People are invited to edit whatever words are offered in a manner true to them. Anyone is also invited to speak with others in this mode too.

Since the official launch at ZKU as part of Berlin Art Week, this work was ongoing until the social isolation of the pandemic pushed it to a natural close as a roaming interventionist piece. When Danielle spoke this way with others, it happened  in her everyday life, just chatting with whoever comes up on the way. This happened in Berlin, Basel, London, Liverpool, Brussels, Ghent, Northern France, Paris, Mahe - Seychelles, Melbourne, Perth and Hobart over her active years.

A meeting of two: eye to eye, face to face.

And when you are near I will tear your eyes out

and place them instead of mine,

and you will tear my eyes out

and will place them instead of yours.

- Jacob L. Moreno, Founder of Psychodrama.
